Authoring in process

For author Bill Lewis, ‘I can fly’ was a lifetime culmination of experiences, dreams, journal entries, inspirational quotes, stories, and a few tall tales. The book is about escaping your boundaries and seeking adventure.

From the beginning of the assignment, Bill wanted to pursue unusual graphic themes and conventions so his book would stand out among other travel books and guides. The design and art direction became a character in and of itself. The book was self published and produced.

Throughout the process of creating the book, old images, sketches, collectable publications, and stamps were used to add texture and dynamics.

The cover features an image by the late, great Rodney Smith. The image depicts a man journeying into the water.
